About Us

Chiropractors are health care professionals that are best known for safely treating musculoskeletal problems. About 22 million Americans visit Chiropractors each year, successfully getting relief from neck, back, and joint pain, as well as headaches, from various causes such as accidents, work injuries, sports injuries and muscle strains.

Chiropractic Physcians practice a hands on approach to health care that includes patient history, examination, diagnosis and treatment. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are trained to recommend theraputic and rehabiliative exercises as well.

Dr. Hanley uses hands on spinal manipulation (often called adjustments) and many other physiotherapies (massage, whirlpool, ultrasound, muscle stim, pool exercises, etc) to bring relief from pain. The purpose of manipulation is to restore joint mobility manually to areas that have become restricted in their movement, often because of tissue injury. Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improperly lifting a heavy object, or through repetitve stresses such as sports or sitting incorrectly. Injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation, pain, and diminished function. Manipulation of the affected joint and tissues restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness, and allowing muscles to heal.
